Is travel in Ecuador more dangerous for gringoes than other latin american countries?
I read some in a travel book and the warnings were so scary concerning assaults, weapons and kidnapping. I am now a little shy of travelling there and yet would like to go if it is safer than what I read. Anyone help?

How do I prevent my swimming suit from deteriorating in the the chlorinated water?
I swim competively. I swim in the longer kind of Speedo suit (Jammers) but I would like to know how to prevent it from deteriorating. Every night after swimming practice I always soak it in cold fresh water. But is there any other soulution or advice that you may have? Thanks in advance.

Is swimming an effective way to tone up and shed just a few pounds?
I weigh 180 and 6′2” and 20 years old. I hate running and working out in a gym but i want to get back into shape and tone up. Is swimming more for losing weight or does anybody know if it can tone you up a noticeable amount. Also, if it does tone you up could you give me a few swimming tips to help me acquire my goal

What age can you start swimming lessons?
I am not expecting my daughter to be able to swim alone or super well at her age (almost 2). But I think she would love swim lessons. She loves the water. In the bath tub she lays on her stomach holding herself up with her arms, kicks her legs (like she is swimming) she also loves to put her face in the water and blows bubbles. Does anyone know what age I can put her in swim lessons (of course I know I will be in the water with her) Thanks! I will probably look into getting her into lessons this summer!

Hypothetically, could something travel faster than the speed of light if it's traveling in a different medium?
My Optics lecturer said something about how since light travels in a vacuum, you could, potentially, have something travel faster in a different medium, one other than a vacuum. True or false?

How is it that swimming is good for asthma?
I have asthma (minor, but still, I have it), and I’ve been told that swimming is the best thing an asmatic can do. Why is that? I know that all arobic exercises are good for your asthma but swimming seems to be the first things people tell you is good. So, why swimming as opposed to say, jogging or biking. I’m just curious, considering starting a regular swimming workout. Thanks.
